I've put in the 12.5's and raised the needles one up from bottom. It was better, but still rich on 1/8 throttle so the needles went down to the bottom again. 230 mains are in. I had Leo riding it at the rally last weekend to get an expert opinion.
As you may have read elsewhere, it runs smooth down low, no sign of detonation anywhere in the register, surging is as good as gone. It will pick up easy in 35mph in fifth gear and accelerate into the red zone.
I'm pleased so far. The set up is as follows:
Early engined 72 H2, H2E-00603
1st over Wisecos
34 Mikunis with UFO's
UNI foam filters
230 mains
12.5 pilots
Needle clip on top notch
P-4's

discussion,
unsure where your clip is ?, you say about being moved to bottom clip,
then in list on top clip? dont really bother as mine will be totally different,
but freak Ståle 12.5 pilot !!
if your needle clip is on the bottom notch, lifted needle, ya' need a richer needle for mid range mate, bigger numbers,. |

I followed Leo's advice on jetting. Went down to P-2's, 220's and raised the needles a notch.
Throttle response improved and it feels more crisp. Still no detonation. I got slightly more four stroking at 1/8. I'll have a go at the air screws next to decrease the four stroking. I feel that it's not enough four stroking to drop the needle to the bottom again. Cheers |

ståle,...do you think ufos make it run richer all through the range ?, or its just on the pilots, have you made anymore jetting changes,
fitted my homaders now and be going to the dyno later in wk,..
350 runs slightly lean in midrange as is, but no worries soon passes that,
what pilot size did you start off with, before ufos ?,
cheers, |

| I guess they will make it run richer, that's why jetting down is necessary. I also believe it's richer through out the range, but it's more noticeable in the pilot curcuit than in midrange and on full throttle. I think I had 30 or 35 pilots pre ufo's. I've read somewhere that 12.5 pilots and ufo's equals 30 pilots without ufo's. I have not yet done anymore jetting changes. |

have tried to jet 350 down with your same ratio on the pilots ? and the bigger i fit the better it gets, started at 15's (bike not set off as the norm with too small pilots), but without ufo's was at 40 pilots (how it ran before), but now back upto 35's and getting better all the time, airscrews are almost back in stock position too, so really with the reeds set up there is not much difference,
however i can add that its way sharper and much more responsive on small throttle openings on take off than before, jeezuss !,.
definateley need a smaller back sprocket (from 48t), but cant unless i change out the swinger,..humph !, looking /sounding good,
needle top notch
mains same at 115,. |
